If you have armour-boosting insignias/runes, and someone uses SY!, it's almost a waste, isn't it? Because they won't stack. And I would not use blessed/attunment because it doesn't help you maintain your energy; it just gives you a little tiny bit more in the beginning.
Survivors is definitely the way to go.

Armour bonuses from Insignias, runes, shields, weapon mods and offhand mods all stack.
Armour bonuses from skills alone do not stack, with the exception of "I Am Unstoppable!".
In short, if my Necromancer is wearing Tormentor's, carrying a shield and has a spear with a +5 AL mod he will have an AL of 83. If someone activates SY, he will have 183 armour.
The same applies for my Assassin. 70 base, with a +5 mod on my daggers and Nightstalker's giving a total of 90. SY then boosts it to 190.
But when you're running with that level of protection, the extra AL really doesn't add too much. Neither will Survivor's.
Personally I do not like the conditions for the AL boosts on the Assassin insignias. Nightstalker's requires you to be constantly attacking, so you're vulnerable when running or activating non-attack skills, the rest are vs. physical damage only.

I run this armor stack:
- Survivor Mask of Minor DM (and mask has inherent DM+1 too)
- Survivor Guise of Minor CS
- Survivor Gloves of Superior Vigor
- Survivor Leggings of Vitae
- Survivor Shoes of Clarity (to reduce duration blind and weakness, to prevent missing an attack)
I would also some Slashing Zealous Daggers of Fortitude with either "Strength & Honor" or "Guided by Fate" inscription.

That's a pretty bad idea, considering that on head arms and feet combined there's a 37.5% chance of getting those areas hit, where with chest+legs there's a 62.5% chance of those 2 getting hit. therefore you're only getting the bonus of the insignia on 37.5% of hits. Moreover, some skills and spells only hit on chest armor so in the end it's much better to go nightstalker on chest and legs.

This argument is wrong. You're correct in saying that you get hit three times as much in the chest and twice as much in the legs, but thats why you get three times as much health/energy for survivor/radiant on the chest and two times as much health/energy for survivor/radiant on the legs.
In short, both armor and +health/energy insignia double/triple if you put them on legs/chest. It's really just a matter of how much you want of each.
Also, I've never seen any evidence whatsoever (in over 4 years) of specific spells/skills hitting specific armor pieces, and so I don't believe it. If they did, it would be beneficial to put +armor on those pieces, but we don't know thats true.
